The Kansas City Chiefs ended up dramatically winning another game this past weekend against the Denver Broncos, as they blocked a game-winning field goal to seal another win and keep their undefeated streak alive. The game started with the Broncos and Chiefs exchanging punts on their first two drives, then Bo Nix led a nine-play, 80-yard drive that ended with a six-yard touchdown pass to Devaughn Vele to take a 7-0 lead early in the second quarter. Kansas City answered with a 36-yard field goal by Harrison Butker to make it 7-3.
Nix then went 70 yards down the field on five plays and connected with Courtland Sutton on a 32-yard touchdown pass to extend the lead to 14-3. Patrick Mahomes later threw a two-yard touchdown pass to Travis Kelce to make it 14-10. Butker converted a 28-yard field goal in the third quarter to cut the Chiefs deficit to just 14-13. Butker later kicked a go-ahead 20-yarder to take a 16-14 lead in the fourth quarter.
Denver then got the ball back and went 43 yards on 13 plays to set up for the game-winning 35-yard field goal that could have won the game, but Chiefs linebacker Leo Chenal blocked the kick to secure the win for Kansas City. How can Kansas City squeak out of every game by the skin of their teeth?
Kansas City Chiefs Keep Getting By Off Of Ugly Wins

Even though the Chiefs are still undefeated so far in the season they still haven’t looked like “the Chiefs” we’re used to seeing. Now this is both good and bad because the Chiefs really haven’t hit their stride yet and there is still room for improvement and the team does continue to get better week by week. The bad news though? This is who they are at this point in the season, the offense isn’t as explosive (maybe a little better with Deandre Hopkins) they commit silly turnovers, all while the defense plays out of their mind to keep this team in games. What’s also good is that this formula has won this team a previous Super Bowl so while it isn’t going to be as pretty as we’re used to seeing, if it results in wins, then it doesn’t matter at this point.
We’re basically at the halfway point of the season so it may be just a little too early to talk about an undefeated season for the Chiefs. Honestly, even if the Chiefs take this undefeated streak past Christmas, Head Coach Andy Reid would probably sit his starters in their final game on the road against the Denver Broncos, which could put the winning streak in jeopardy. Despite this team’s lack of an explosive offense to this point in the season, the team continues winning, and that’s all that matters. Lean into having a strong defense, and a reliable running game, and keep winning games.
As a fan, it might keep you on the edge of your seat until the final whistle blows, but if the result is the same, then there should continue to be plenty of celebrating within the Chiefs Kingdom and a three-peat may be possible in the future. The Chief now go on to play the Buffalo Bills in Buffalo which will probably be their biggest test yet so far this season.
