The Kansas City Chiefs could use help at wide receiver because their depth has weakened after losing two veterans, several players are under contract for only one more year, and potential suspensions due to legal issues. Kansas City lost DeAndre Hopkins to the Baltimore Ravens and Justin Watson to the Houston Texans, while Hollywood Brown, JuJu Smith-Schuster, and Skyy Moore are free agents in 2026. Finally, Rashee Rice could face a suspension in 2025 due to his legal troubles, while Xavier Worthy faces uncertainty with a pending court case.
Kansas City Chiefs hosting a boom-or-bust receiver prospect

According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Chiefs are hosting former Alabama Crimson Tide and Texas Longhorns wide receiver Isaiah Bond for a pre-draft visit. Bond is considered a boom-or-bust prospect because he is a speedy and athletically gifted receiver who wasn’t overly productive in his college days. He could thrive under the right scheme that utilizes his speed and athleticism.

He had a disappointing lone season with Texas

After spending the first two years of his collegiate career with the Alabama Crimson Tide, Isaiah Bond transferred to the Texas Longhorns for the 2024 season. Bond had a disappointing year with Texas, battling a nagging high ankle sprain for the last half of the season, and upon returning, couldn’t carve out a consistent role on offense. He had 34 receptions for 540 yards and five touchdowns, finishing 6th on the team in receptions, third in yards, and fifth in touchdowns.
After the conclusion of his junior season, Bond declared for the 2025 NFL Draft.

Here’s Lance Zierlein’s scouting report on Isaiah Bond

“Fluid, fast and untapped. Bond played decoy for the betterment of Texas’ offense but clearly has the talent to take on a more focused, productive role. He’s a capable route-runner, has good hands and can play wide or from the slot.
“An offense should feed him a heavier diet of shallow crossers, deep digs and quick-game throws, allowing him to make magic with the ball in his hands and add to their chunk play total. He’s tough but can struggle on combat catches and against contact-oriented coverage.
“Bond is an explosive athlete with above-average skill. He simply needs more targets to reach his potential. He’s well-suited to the NFL game and could become a very good pro within his first three seasons.”
Zierlein predicts that Bond will eventually become a plus starter.
