The Kansas City Chiefs started their Rookie Minicamp with a message from head coach Andy Reid, who revealed that B.J. Thompson has been officially released from the team. Thompson has been on the Non-Football Injury/Illness list since last June after suffering a cardiac arrest as a result of a seizure which he suffered during a team meeting. Reid announced Thompson’s release but also showed optimism that the player’s career has not exactly ended.

Andy Reid starts off Rookie Minicamp with a note about BJ Thompson, who was waived recently. Says he is making progress, but he’s not quite there yet. Adds it does not mean his career is over.

B.J. Thompson has been a part of the Kansas City Chiefs team since 2023 after the team selected him as the 166th pick in the fifth round of the NFL draft. Before stepping foot into the league, the defensive end split his college football career between the Baylor Bears and the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks. In his rookie season for the team, the defensive end managed two solo tackles for the team.

Thompson was not the only one who was released by the Kansas City Chiefs. The team also revealed that David Lynch, linebacker, was also released from the team. The releases of these players constitute several offseason moves that the Kansas City Chiefs have undertaken this year.

The Kansas City Chiefs are hoping to improve their performance for the 2025 NFL season through their offseason moves. In the 2024 NFL season, the Chiefs were hoping for a three-peat in the Super Bowl and finished at the top of the AFC West with a whopping 15 wins. The Chiefs made it to the Super Bowl and lost against the Philadelphia Eagles with a 40-22 final score, dashing their dreams of a three-peat.

Meanwhile, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, and his wife, seem to be making the most of their NFL offseason. Over the weekend, Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Mahomes attended the F1 party in Miami, and clearly had a great time mingling with other esteemed guests.

Patrick Mahomes opted for a blue t-shirt with a white jacket and matching pants, while his wife, Brittany Mahomes, donned an olive-green shirt-style dress with brown boots and a matching belt, letting her hair down in beachy waves.

The Mahomes’ couple was also seen chatting it up with none other than veteran quarterback Tom Brady, who Brittany seems to be meeting for the very first time. However, Patrick Mahomes’ teammate, Travis Kelce, with whom the quarterback shares a very close bond, was visibly absent.
