The Kansas City Chiefs are 9-0 and last undefeated team in the NFL this season. As the defending back-to-back- Super Bowl champions, many predicted that they would, once again, be serious contenders for the title again this year. However, the way that Kansas City has been able to maintain their high level of excellence has come as a surprise.
Even before the season began, the Chiefs began losing key playmakers. Wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown was lost for the year in the first preseason game with a shoulder injury. Since then, significant contributors on offense have also been lost.
Running back Isiah Pacheco broke his leg, forcing Kansas City to reunite with Kareem Hunt. Rashee Rice, who had been the subject of controversy due to his offseason high-speed car accident, tore his ACL and is also out for the year.
Despite the injuries, the Chiefs just kept on winning. That being said, they face a whole new challenge to continue doing so in light of their latest major injury.
Kansas City Chiefs Kicker Harrison Butker Is Headed to Injured Reserve with a Knee Injury

On Thursday afternoon, it was reported that controversial Chiefs kicker, Harrison Butker, was being placed on injured reserve with a knee injury. Through nine games, Butker had made 90% of his field goals and 95.5% of his extra points.

Butker, of course, became a well-known name back in May thank to controversial remarks he made about women and other marginalized groups of people during a commencement speech at Benedictine College. These remarks, particularly those about women, led to a great deal of backlash which he seemed to embrace.
“For the ladies present today, congratulations on an amazing accomplishment,” Butker began. “You should be proud of all that you have achieved to this point in your young lives. I want to speak directly to you briefly because I think it is you, the women, who have had the most diabolical lies told to you.
“How many of you are sitting here now about to cross this stage and are thinking about all the promotions and titles you are going to get in your career?
“Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world.”
These comments, especially, were not forgotten, and have led to many NFL fans making the same joke on social media regarding Butker’s injury.
NFL Fans Are All Making the Same Joke About the Harrison Butker Injury

Various fans, athletes, and celebrities have all condemned Butker’s view of women and their “ideal” role in society. The things he said during his speech are now coming back to influence comments about his knee injury:

As Pelissero noted in his post on X, Butker is expected to be out for at least four weeks. Kansas City signed Spencer Shrader away from the New York Jets to take his place, but he certainly does not have the championship history of the man he is replacing.
It sounds like many fans will enjoy watching someone else kick for the Chiefs, though.
