DeAndre Hopkins who previously hadn’t played in a great offensive team environment since his days with Kyler Murray in Arizona, has finally found a new beginning with the reigning Super Bowl champions after a tumultuous period with his former team, the Tennessee Titans.

The transition from the Tennessee Titans, to Kansas City Chiefs marks a significant shift in Hopkins’ career.

Ran Carthon, the Titans’ general manager, facilitated Hopkins’ move to a contender, offering him a chance to once again play on a grand stage.

Hopkins with the Chiefs, provides him not only a strong team, but also with the opportunity to work alongside Patrick Mahomes, one of the best quarterbacks in the league.

Hopkins has always maintained a level of respect and admiration for Mahomes.  Now, with injuries affecting the Chiefs’ roster of receivers such as Marquise Brown and Rashee Rice, Mahomes needed a reliable target, and Hopkins fits that role perfectly.

Injuries to key players have forced Mahomes to diversify his playmaking,  forcing him to focus heavily on available tight ends like Travis Kelce and Noah Gray.

However, the addition of Hopkins is expected to realign the offensive dynamics.

Hopkins in a recent statement expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Titans:

“I’ve got to thank (Titans general manager) Ran (Carthon) and his staff for trading me to a contender, first of all, because those guys could’ve traded me anywhere,” Hopkins said onThursday.

“It means a lot,” he continued when speaking of playing for a contender. “It takes your game to a different level. It take your focus, your drive knowing that you’re playing for something. It takes your game to a different level. I haven’t played meaningful football in a couple years since we probably started 8-0 in Arizona. So it takes your game to a different level.”

Hopkins had an injury-plagued three years in Arizona, playing only 19 of a possible 34 games. Nonetheless, a clean 2023 transition to the Titans laid out resurrection opportunity followed by his current place with Chiefs.
