Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was the victim of some trash talk coming from the Chiefs’ division rival, the Las Vegas Raiders.
Raiders players made a Kermit the Frog puppet look like Mahomes, mocking the three-time Super Bowl champion.
Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes and HC Andy Reid are aware of the puppet
Both Mahomes and his coach are aware of the puppet and they have both commented on the trash talk from the Raiders.
Mahomes said the issue will “get handled when it gets handled.”

Reid took a little bit more of a direct shot at the Raiders for the puppet, saying that the Chiefs don’t spend a lot of time with puppets and they are instead focused on gearing up for the upcoming season.

“We don’t spend a lot of time here with puppets.”

The Kansas City Chiefs and the Las Vegas Raiders will see plenty of each other
The Chiefs and the Raiders are not strangers and the two will see plenty of each other for years to come. The Chiefs have mostly owned the Raiders in the Mahomes/Reid era, but the Raiders got the best of the Chiefs most recently.
Reid even cited the Christmas Day game against the Raiders as the game that got the Chiefs into proper postseason shape, allowing them to weed out deficiencies in their game. In an article from KMBC, Reid referred to the game as a wake-up call.
“That emotion was the thing that jumped out at you – that they played with – I think it gave our guys a nice little – for (lack of) a better term, a wakeup call that, ‘Listen, we need to step things up here. Things aren’t just going to fall in our lap.’ We’re taking everyone’s best shot; here’s a team that went through some adversity, and they stepped up and were able to present themselves as they did. We were able to learn from it and move on,” Reid said.
Since becoming the starter for the Chiefs in 2018, Mahomes has not had much trouble with the Raiders. The reigning Super Bowl champion is 10-2 against the Raiders and he even won the 2022 Super Bowl in the Raiders home stadium (Allegiant Stadium).
Bulletin board material for the Kansas City Chiefs doesn’t bode well for their opponents
If the Raiders are doubtful that bulletin board material like making a puppet of the Chiefs quarterback isn’t a bright idea, they just need to ask the 2022-2023 Cincinnati Bengals.
Going into the AFC Championship Game against the Chiefs, the Bengals and starting quarterback Joe Burrow were 3-0 against the Chiefs. Because of this, players on the team and even the mayor of Cincinnati took to calling Arrowhead Stadium “Burrowhead.”
This bulletin board material may not have been the complete reason the Bengals weren’t able to advance to the Super Bowl again, but there is no doubt it made one of the toughest teams to beat in the postseason that much more of a formidable opponent. Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce immediately referenced the Bengals trash-talking after the game.

While the Raiders’ near future is looking bright after a promising back half of the 2023 season, poking the most dangerous bear in the NFL may not bode well for their 2024 hopes.
