As the Kansas City Chiefs come to terms with the potential season-ending knee injury to Rashee Rice, the focus turns toward if the team has enough offensive juice to carry Patrick Mahomes. With Rice sidelined, and the Chiefs already missing key offensive pieces like Hollywood Brown and Isiah Pacheco, the big question is: who will step up?
Top receiver, Rashee Rice, led the NFL in reception after Week 3. His presence on the field was huge and now his absence will be even bigger. Tight End Travis Kelce was able to step up last week against the Chargers with seven receptions and 89 yards. The Chiefs can’t just lean on Kelce, he is often double-covered.
When will Chiefs know how long Rashee Rice will be out? https://t.co/V4Y7Y2NXcO

Who Will step up for the Kansas City Chiefs?
Rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy enters. The Chiefs’ Worthy became known after his two touchdowns in Week 1. Week 4 he had blistering speed after recording a 54-yard touchdown grab against the Chargers and caught a touchdown of his own last Sunday. This season he’s flashed brilliance, and with Rice out, he’s being asked to shoulder an even bigger burden. But Worthy is 21, and still learning his way with the offense, so it remains to be seen if he can do it all.
The Chiefs have relied on JuJu Smith-Schuster before, so we might see a resurgence of him. The Chiefs seem to be considering outside help. They have been rumored to be exploring what’s on the market for proven wide receivers. The hot name has been Las Vegas Raiders star Davante Adams. That move could help the Chiefs where they sorely need it, but their market cap might not allow them to get such an expensive wideout. Not to mention inner-division rivalry.
One thing is clear, the Chiefs will need help from outside the organization if they want to remain Super Bowl contenders. What’s unclear is who that will be; Worthy, Kelce, JuJu, or a new face. The pressure is on to fill the gap left by Rashee Rice.
