Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is contemplating taking the drastic step of benching one of their top wide receivers following the team’s win over the New England Patriots in Week 15. The Chiefs got a much-needed win Sunday to end their two-game losing streak.
But it wasn’t a perfect win against the lowly 3-11 Patriots.
Wide receiver Kadarius Toney dropped a pass that turned into a Patriots interception.

The mistake was one of several this season for Toney. Toney was heavily criticized for an offside penalty that wiped out a go-ahead touchdown against the Buffalo Bills. He’s dropped several other passes this season.
Reid was asked following the Patriots game if he’d consider benching Toney. According to PJ Green with Fox 4, Reid said he’d “see” if the Chiefs will keep Toney on the field or the bench in Week 16.
Reid said he wasn’t entirely down on Toney.

The Chiefs wide receivers, as a whole, are bad this year. They lead the league in drops. But Toney needs to fix his game if he wants to stay in the NFL, much less the Chiefs. The former first-round pick wasn’t used much with the New York Giants before they traded him to the Chiefs.
Toney hasn’t been great in Kansas City.
