Aaron Rodgers is no longer with the Green Bay Packers, but the front office is still hearing about the need to beef up the wide receiver room in the offseason.
The Packers invested heavily in their passing scheme during the last offseason when they gave quarterback Jordan Love a four-year deal worth $220 million. Love finished the season throwing for 3,389 yards, 25 touchdowns and 11 receptions.
Leading WR Jayden Reed didn’t eclipse 1,000 yards

Green Bay did not have a receiver gain 1,000 yards in 2024. Second-year receiver Jayden Reed led the Packers with 55 receptions for 857 yards and six touchdowns. Tight end Tucker Kraft was the team’s second-leading receiver. Christian Watson recorded 620 receiving yards and two touchdowns while Romeo Doubs had 601 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
(Doubs had issues with the offense not targeting him enough in 2024.)
The Packers like to pride themselves on saying they have multiple No. 1 receivers, but running back Josh Jacobs isn’t buying the narrative.
Green Bay Packers need a “real” WR

Per Chris Simms of NBC Sports, Jacobs said Green Bay needs a “real” receiver in 2025.

Jacobs had a great season for the Packers, rushing for 1,329 yards and 15 touchdowns while adding 36 receptions for 342 yards and one touchdown in the passing game.
Jacobs and the Packers offense ran out of gas in the wild card game when they gained 302 yards in a 22-10 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Love threw for 212 yards and three interceptions.
Maybe the Packers would have been more complicated with a true “X” receiver. Jacobs seems to think so, and he’s putting a burden on the front office in his second season in Green Bay.
