The Buffalo Bills remain a franchise without a Super Bowl victory. They had infamously been to the big game four times in a row in the 1990s and lost in each of those trips.
But with Josh Allen in the fold, the Bills have renewed high hopes that they can finally end their search for that elusive first-ever NFL championship.
As one of the best quarterbacks of his generation, Allen has been constantly putting the Bills in a good position to contend for the Super Bowl. Buffalo has been to the NFL playoffs in each of the last six seasons and topped the AFC East division five years in a row.
Along the way, Allen has become a three-time Pro Bowler and an NFL Most Valuable Player, but there is no goal greater in his eyes than raising the Vince Lombardi Trophy and bringing it home to Buffalo.
Josh Allen sounds off on having an MVP award but not a Super Bowl win
Despite his accolades, particularly his MVP award, Allen is not satisfied with what he’s done so far in his NFL career, as there remains one target he needs to hit to feel complete.
“I don’t play too much into it,” Allen said when asked by Liam McKeone of Sports Illustrated about trying to get better after winning an NFL MVP. “You know, it is such a great honor, and I do appreciate being honored for my work. But at the same time, I still didn’t win a Super Bowl. Didn’t win a ring, and that is the only goal. It’s the only focus that I’ve ever had going into this league.”
The former Wyoming Cowboys star, however, made it clear that winning the prestigious individual award is how it is an indicator of the high level his team is playing.
“The one positive, I will say, about winning an MVP means that your team is in a good position,” Allen continued. “You’re making the playoffs, you’re playing well and you’re doing whatever you can to help your team win football games. But at the end of the day, you got to make the playoffs and then you got to win three, maybe four games. And that’s what we need to do. And we’re going to continue to work as hard as we can and myself included. What can we do to find a way over that hump? So that’s the only goal going forward. “
