The New England Patriots are set to give Drake Maye his first career start in Week 6. The Patriots are giving the No. 3 pick in April’s draft a difficult test, as he will face a 4-1 Houston Texans team on Sunday.
One of the reasons NFL scouts and analysts thought Maye should sit this season is because the talent on the offense is subpar. On Wednesday, the team added depth at pass catcher.
The New England Patriots added a WR
Per the Patriots’ website, the team re-signed John Jiles to the practice squad:
“The New England Patriots announced today that WR John Jiles has been re-signed to the practice squad. He was signed to the practice squad on Sept. 24 and then released on Oct 1.”
John Jiles broke school records
The New York Giants initially signed Jiles as an undrafted rookie free agent in May. The 24-year-old stayed with the Giants through training camp.
Jiles played college football at Fort Scott, Virginia Union, and West Flordia. Last season, the 6-foot-3, 220-pound receiver broke a West Florida school record by recording 66 catches for 1,255 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns.
