John Harbaugh is trying to build a tough Ravens defense
The Baltimore Ravens are coming off a season where they were drafted by an AFC North rival, the Cincinnati Bengals, in the Wild Card round. The Ravens are playing in one of the NFL’s toughest divisions next season. The Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals are loaded with offensive talent after free agency. The Pittsburgh Steelers should progress with Kenny Pickett in his second season. Ravens head coach John Harbaugh recently commented on his young defensive core he hopes can stop them.
According to the Ravens’ Website, Harbaugh praised linebackers Odafe Oweh, David Ojabo, and Tyus Bowser as pass rushers the Ravens will build around. However, Harbaugh hinted they could add extra help this offseason:
“You’re talking about two first-round [talents] – that’s what they are,” Harbaugh said. “And then you’ve got Tyus Bowser, who’s a leader. So, between those guys right there, I think that’s a good group of young players that we can build around. If a veteran gets added, he gets added, or a guy gets added in the draft, that’s fine, but I believe those three guys are going to get to the quarterback.”
If they continue to improve in 2023, the Ravens’ defense should be dangerous in the AFC North. The Ravens had the sixth-most sacks (48) in last year’s regular season.
