John Elway Receives Big Update From Authorities Regarding Fatal Golf Cart Crash

Exactly one month ago, Jeff Sperbeck, the longtime agent and friend of NFL legend John Elway, died in a tragic golf cart accident:
For weeks authorities have been investigating the incident, trying to assess if there was any foul play involved or evidence of a crime leading up to the tragedy. This week, there was a major update.
According to TMZ Sports, police officers have spoken to all of the parties in the area near where Sperbeck fell back on April 26. Per the report, the police have still found no evidence to suggest that a crime occurred leading up to Sperbeck’s death.
“There is no evidence or statement to indicate this is nothing more than a tragic accident,” Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco told the outlet. “We determined the case would remain open until we contacted all residents who might have video of the path traveled.”

Elway had been carting Sperbeck and others around the golf community of La Quinta, California when the accident occurred. Sperbeck sustained major injuries from the fall and passed away on April 30.
The coroner determined that Sperbeck passed away due to accidental blunt head trauma.
“We are grieving this unimaginable loss as a family alongside our dearest friends the Elways and the many other clients Jeff called friends. We are grateful for the overwhelming outpouring of support that we have received and ask for privacy for our family at this difficult time,” Sperbeck’s family said in a statement after his passing.
Law enforcement initially did not get involved as the medical professionals at the scene did not suspect any wrongdoing. But after “massive media inquiry,” the sheriff’s office decided to open a probe into the incident.
Some suggested that Elway might have been drinking before the fateful golf cart ride. A photo of him drinking from a cup at a party circulated and got people curious.

Elway released a statement of his own on Sperbeck’s passing:
“I am absolutely devastated and heartbroken by the passing of my close friend, business partner and agent Jeff Sperbeck,” Elway said.
“There are no words to truly express the profound sadness I feel with the sudden loss of someone who has meant so much to me. My heart and deepest sympathies go out to Jeff’s wife, Cori; his children Carly, Sam and Jackson; and everyone who knew and loved him.
Jeff will be deeply missed for the loyalty, wisdom, friendship and love he brought into my life and the lives of so many others.”
