During week one, the Cincinnati Bengals would fall to their division rivals, the Pittsburgh Steelers, 23 to 20 in overtime. Joe Burrow is coming off a ruptured appendix surgery in July, threw for 338 yards on 33 out of 53 attempts for two touchdowns and four interceptions.
He also rushed for 47 yards on six carries and averaged 7.8 yards per carry. Joe Mixon rushed for 82 yards on 27 carries and averaged 3 yards per carry. Ja’Marr Chase added ten catches for 129 yards and a touchdown, averaging 12.9 per catch.
“You got to give credit to the Pittsburgh Steelers,” said Bengals head coach Zac Taylor after the game. “They showed up ready to play and made some plays on some balls that were really great plays.”
“It’s frustrating, but I had faith that we’d come back,” Burrow said. “I’m proud of the way we played in the second half. We came back strong and put ourselves in a position to win the game.”
He added, “They made good plays. Obviously, I’d like to have some of those back, and they made some good plays on some of them.”
Joe Burrow and Guinness announce a multi-year partnership
On Thursday morning, Guinness announced they have partnered with Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow on a multi-year collaboration and will be working with the brand to inspire Americans to pledge more than 1 million service hours through the Guinness Gives Back program, according to Cleveland.com
“Many people in our country are facing a series of challenges right now and can benefit from the support of others, and I am humbled to be in a position to make a difference – and encourage others to do so, as well,” Burrow said in the statement. “Teaming up with a brand like Guinness, who has given back at the core of what they do, just makes sense.”
Through the partnership, Burrow will commit to service hours and work with Joe Cool -a long-time partner of Guinness and NFL Legend Joe Montana – to call on others to donate service hours for communities in need.
“Burrow is a talent on the field — and it’s been fun to watch what he’s been able to accomplish so early in his career,” Montana said in the same statement. “But it’s also inspiring to see what he’s doing off the field by giving back and investing his time for good causes. I’m looking forward to working with Joe and Guinness to help spread the message and encourage others to give their time to their communities for those in need.”
