The alleged cover-up of the mental deterioration of former President Joe Biden was a collective effort by his family and their closest aides, as revealed in the new book “Original Sin.”
In a recent interview, co-author Jake Tapper revealed to analyst Stephen A. Smith more details of the alleged cover-up they exposed in their book.
“And all I can say about that is that our reporting suggested that the cognitive decline started years ago: 2015, 2017,” Tapper said. “We point out specific moments, 2019. On the campaign trail, he can’t come up with the name of his closest, longest-serving aide, Mike Donilon. Um, I did not see that. I saw him aging. I saw him fumbling. I did not see cognitive decline in October 2020. Laura Trump did.
“But as a general admission, I think that there are very few people in legacy media who, knowing what we know now, having reported this book, who were as aggressive on this topic as we should have been, could have been, and I’m certainly including myself in this. I’m not including Alex [Thompson]. But that said, this also was a cover-up.”
“This was the Biden family and a small circle of aides who were not only trying to present Joe Biden in his best possible self with teleprompters and only scheduling events between 10 and 4 for the most part,” he continued. “They weren’t only lying to the media. They weren’t only lying to the public. They were lying to cabinet secretaries. They were lying to donors. They were lying to Democratic officials. They were lying to members of the White House staff who were kept away from him.”

New Book Reveals Cover-Up on Joe Biden’s Alleged Mental Decline
Original Sin: President Biden‘s Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again by Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson presents a damning account of how Biden’s inner circle allegedly concealed his cognitive decline during his presidency and reelection campaign. The book claims that as early as 2021, Biden’s aides began limiting his public appearances, scripting his interactions, and restricting access to him, particularly in 2023 and 2024.

According to sources cited in the book, Biden’s work hours were severely reduced, with some officials stating that he could only function effectively for four to six hours a day before becoming noticeably fatigued. The authors argue that this cover-up was orchestrated by a small group of close advisers, nicknamed “the Politburo,” who controlled Biden’s schedule and shielded him from scrutiny.

Biden’s family and close aides have denied the allegations, insisting that he remained fully capable of performing his duties as president. However, the book’s claims are backed by over 200 interviews, including accounts from former Cabinet members who describe heavily scripted meetings and limited access to Joe Biden.
