The New York Jets are having a season to forget in 2024. After getting Aaron Rodgers back, New York expected to compete for a championship. Unfortunately, the season went sideways early on and they were never able to recover.
Now there’s more bad news for the struggling franchise.
“Surgery Will Be Needed” Jets Announce Brutal Season Ending Injury (Report)

It’s been a losing season for the New York Jets, and it’s only getting worse.
On Tuesday, Jets coach Jeff Ulbrich announced that starting left tackle Olu Fashanu will be on injured reserve for the remainder of the season due to a foot injury:

Fashanu avoided an Achilles injury but was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis and the injury will require surgery. The injury occurred during the Jets 19-9 loss to the Los Angeles Rams this past Sunday. He was carted off the field in the fourth quarter after having a great game against the Rams star rookie Jared Verse.
There is no timetable as of yet for Fashanu’s recovery and it likely won’t be known until the surgery occurs. As of now, it looks like it isn’t the worst-case scenario as he avoided a Lis Franc and Achilles injury. Recovery could take anywhere from 3-12 months

With Tyron Smith injured, Fashanu returned to his natural starting position of left tackle and has been a great tackle. In that time, Fashanu has produced the 24th-best overall grade and 27th-best pass blocking grade. Since Week 10, only 19 qualified tackles have allowed zero sacks, Fashanu had only given up one.
