“This Was Never Actually Offered”: Jets Insider Calls Out Jerry Jones Over Micah Parsons Trade Claim

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones made a stunning revelation during his Friday morning radio appearance that immediately raised eyebrows across the NFL. His blockbuster claim about pursuing Quinnen Williams left many wondering what really happened.

The timing added intrigue. Jones spoke just days after Dallas defeated Kansas City on Thanksgiving, with newly acquired Williams playing a key role in the victory.

Jerry Jones story that doesn’t add up

Jones appeared on 105.3 The Fan and dropped a bombshell about his pursuit of Williams. The Cowboys’ owner claimed he offered the Jets both Micah Parsons and a first-round pick for Williams during training camp.

“I wanted a one and Parsons for Williams,” Jones said on the radio show. He repeated the claim to make sure listeners understood him correctly.

If true, the Jets would have turned down an elite pass rusher plus premium draft capital for a defensive tackle. That decision would rank among the worst moves in recent memory.

Jets insider Connor Hughes quickly stepped in to set the record straight. “Zero doubt that Jerry said this. However this was never actually offered to the Jets, I’m told,” Hughes wrote on X.

Hughes added that there was a brief conversation between the owners, but a Cowboys source told him the Jets weren’t ever going to meet the monetary value needed to extend Parsons.

The financial reality made sense. Parsons was seeking a massive contract extension that would reset the market for defensive players. The Jets weren’t positioned to commit that kind of money during their transition of the front office.

Hughes added perspective to help readers understand the absurdity. “A land where Jerry trades Micah AND a 1 for Quinnen is amazing tho,” he noted.

Jones’ own previous statements contradict his latest version of events. Back in September, he told ESPN New York Radio a completely different story about his pursuit of Williams.

In that earlier interview, Jones said the Jets told him, “We just don’t have the resources to entertain conversations. It was a brief visit,” which aligns with what actually happened.

The actual trades that eventually occurred tell the real story. Dallas sent Parsons to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for defensive tackle Kenny Clark and two first-round picks before the season started.

The Cowboys then acquired Williams from the Jets at the trade deadline. Jones got the defensive tackle in exchange for Mazi Smith, a 2026 second-round pick, and a 2027 first-round selection.

Those real transactions reveal what teams actually valued these players at in the market. The Packers needed multiple assets to pry Parsons away from Dallas, showing his immense worth.

Williams has performed well since arriving in Dallas, helping transform a defense that ranked among the worst in the league. The Cowboys are undefeated since Williams joined the roster.

Jones has continued to justify his decision to move on from Parsons in multiple radio appearances. He suggested the Cowboys struggled to win with Parsons on the roster, saying, “we really hadn’t won with Micah. Not because of Micah”.

NFL analysts broadly dismissed Jones’ claim as soon as it circulated online. No reasonable front office would turn down Parsons plus a first-round pick for Williams, then accept significantly less just months later.
