Jets Agree To Rare Divisional Trade Ahead Of 2024 Season (Report)

The New York Jets have one expectation in 2024: to win the Super Bowl.  Aaron Rodgers will bring that expectation to nearly any team he is on.  New York has made moves this off-season to bolster their offensive line, wide receiving corps, and defense.

However, this time they are parting ways one rookie rather than just cutting him.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN:

In-division trade: Jets traded DB/returner Brandon Codrington to the Bills in an exchange of late-round 2026 picks, per source.

Codrington joined the Jets this year after going undrafted out of North Carolina Central. While he was a standout punt returner in college, Codrington broke out for big returns on both punts and kickoffs in the Jets’ preseason.

Due to the Jets’ use of Xavier Gipson in the return game in 2023, they likely wanted to get something in return for Codrington rather than just cut him.  Buffalo swooped in and took advantage.
