During week one of the 2024 NFL season, the New York Jets were dealt a brutal loss in front of an audience that was broadcast nationwide. On the road, the New York Jets faced the reigning NFC champion San Francisco 49ers, but they found themselves outplayed in almost every facet of the game.
Many fans were quick to jump to statements like “this season is over” after just one loss. Rodgers had a response for those fans.
Jets’ Aaron Rodgers Tells Fans “Don’t Come Back” After Loss To 49ers
According to Wil Riggs of Athlon Sports:
In true New York fashion, some long-suffering Jets fans are already jumping ship, but Rodgers had a message for them.
“I think in general, the messaging was always going to be, if we won, we’re going to the Super Bowl,” Rodgers explained. “If we lose, we’re s***. We love it, we love how passionate they are.
“But it’s a 17-game season for a reason. We didn’t play good enough Monday night. No excuses. But come along for the ride, though. If you want to jump off now, jump off, but then don’t come back.”
We are sure that some fans may take exception to what Rodgers is saying here, but is he wrong? Some fans forget that this is a long season. You can’t win the Super Bowl in Week 1.
Rodgers famously told Packers fans to “R-E-L-A-X” after the Green Bay Packers started the 2014 season with a 1-2 record a decade ago. In the end, Green Bay went on to finish the season 12-4, and reached the NFC Championship.
