Jerry Jones, Dallas Cowboys owner, has found himself in hot water after discussing a historic deal with his linebacker, Micah Parsons without the player’s agent present. Apparently, the discussions around the deal and the contract extension went on for more than five hours, according to Jones himself.
Jones opened up about the deal that he hopes to make with Micah Parsons after the Annual NFL Meetings held in Florida. If the deal does indeed go through, Micah Parsons will be the highest paid non-quarterback in NFL history. The amount negotiated simply goes to show how serious the Dallas Cowboys are about making it work with Parsons.
“Are you kidding me? That’s just not something that you should worry about. You should be worrying about your ability to make it work, and you should be worried about what the player does. Does he have enough skill to do what you’re paying him? The money for the agent is not a factor here or something to worry about, and I don’t know his name. And so my point is that I’m not trying to demean you in any way. But this isn’t about an agent. The agent doesn’t have one thing to do with what we’re doing when we get on a football field against a team… And I’m not demeaning the agent. I’m just saying anybody can do this, and that’s talk directly to the player.” Jerry Jones said on Tuesday about discussing a deal with Micah Parsons without his agent present.

According to conversations with Joe Machato from The Athletic, Jerry Jones is definitely not in a hurry to sign a deal with Micah Parsons. He simply hopes to do it the right way, and as a result, prefers one-on-one conversations with his players rather than get their agents unnecessarily involved.

Jerry Jones Angers Fans After Forgetting Micah Parsons’s Agent’s Name
Meanwhile, Jerry Jones has added fuel to the fire after seeming to forget Micah Parsons’ agent’s name. Parson’s agent, David Mulugheta, was also not present while Jones spoke to his linebacker about a possibility of his contract extension.

Micah Parsons is in the final year of his contract with the Dallas Cowboys and the player will need to see a major upgrade if he is expected to put up better performances for the team. While Jerry Jones’ offer to Parsons is definitely a juicy one, NFL fans became irate when Jones remarked that he definitely did not know Parsons’ agent’s name.
