The Dallas Cowboys season is over, and things are clearly getting to a boiling point in that locker room. This team expected to be a real playoff contender at the beginning of the season, and now they are in the running for a top 3 draft pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Jerry Jones has been not-stop in the media trying to calm the storm that is the Cowboys at the moment, and usually, he has just made things worse.

Now, Jones is coming to the defense of his best player Micah Parsons after Parsons made comments that seemed to attack their own head coach Mike McCarthy. Both Jerry and Micah have been trying to calm the storm after Micah seemingly attacked the head coach after their loss.
Jerry Jones and Micah Parsons Walk Back Micah’s Comments

After another Dallas Cowboys loss, Micah had some weird words about his head coach, but he is saying that he meant it in a very different way. Micah had to get on his podcast to walk back the comments he made after the game:
The star edge rusher said that decision is “above my pay grade.” He feels worse for players like Zack Martin “who put in more time and work than Mike McCarthy ever did” and may leave the team next year without winning a Super Bowl.
Parsons clarified on his podcast that he has a “great relationship” with McCarthy and meant no disrespect. However, he said he’d choose a teammate over a coach “every time” after seeing the sacrifices they make to play through pain.

Jerry also had to walk back Micah’s comments as well. When he went on his usual interview on 105.3 The Fan, Jones acknowledged what Parsons said and tried to walk back the comments the same way that Micah did:
“Do you think I’ve ever had anything interpreted in a way that, I probably said it that way that 99 percent of the people would interpret it, but it’s a whoops and I didn’t mean it to sound that way?” Jones asked. “Well, you’re talking to the wrong guy. I’ve had that happen a lot, as you well know.”
Both of them claim that Micah only intended to honor his older teammates, and did not mean to take any shots at his head coach:
“It was not meant as a critique of the coaches, or the coach. It was meant as a concern for the veteran players such as Zack Martin that might not have that much more in their career left,” Jones said. “And he meant as a concern to them because they don’t have the length of time to right the ship as much as a player like Micah or the younger players. That’s how it was meant. There’s no doubt in my mind it was meant that way.”
Jones knows that Parsons respects McCarthy despite how some critics have interpreted his comments.
“Micah does not feel a lack of appreciation for, of all people, our head coach,” Jones said. “That’s just not the case. I can tell you for a fact that is not the case, and I’ve visited extensively with everybody involved here.”
The Cowboys season is over, and whether or not Micah meant to go after his head coach is irrelevant, as McCarthy will not be there next season no matter what.
With Dak Prescott out for the rest of the season, this team may win one more game the rest of the way and will secure a top 5 draft pick. Jones, however, seems to have lost his way regarding the team;’s football operations. Is this going to be a one-year fall-off or is this a sign of what it is to come in Dallas moving forward?
McCarthy should be gone after this season and the question will become, who is going to take over this circus for the next few seasons?
