Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones made headlines again this week—this time for his surprising comments about Micah Parsons and Dak Prescott. And according to Jason Whitlock, Jones is officially entering a new era: the “say whatever’s on your mind” era.

During a press conference on Monday, Jones unexpectedly threw shade at Parsons, saying:
“Just because we signed him, doesn’t mean we’re going to have him. He was hurt six games last year. Seriously.”
That raised eyebrows right away—mainly because it wasn’t accurate. Parsons only missed four games due to injury last season.
The next day, Whitlock chimed in and gave Jones a fresh label.
“That’s Jerry Jones. The new Joe Biden,” Whitlock said Tuesday. “I think that’s an old man speaking facts. And that’s what old people do.”
He continued:
“Once you get old, you don’t give a damn, and you just start saying what you really think.”

Jones also didn’t spare Dak Prescott, adding that while the Cowboys paid top dollar for a star pass rusher, that player’s been out nearly two-thirds of the year. A comment clearly aimed in the direction of Parsons again.
While others took issue with Jones’ blunt approach, Whitlock wasn’t one of them. To him, this is just how older folks roll—they stop filtering.
It might affect the contract negotiations for Parsons, but it’s clear that Jones said what he said, and he’ll continue speaking his mind.
“I want to be here”: Micah Parsons staying put amid snide remarks from Cowboys owner Jerry Jones
So, what does Micah Parsons think of all this?
Despite the shade from the Cowboys’ owner and no movement on a contract extension, the All-Pro linebacker made it clear where his heart is.
“I want to be here,” Parsons said Tuesday. “I’ve always stated I want to be here, but you know, at the end of the day, they sign the checks like always. Let’s see if they want me to be here at the end of the day.”

He also admitted there hasn’t been much progress on the extension front:
“I don’t know. We’ll see, we’ll see how long things take. There’s not really much movement, man.”
Parsons is entering the final year of his rookie deal in 2025. While Dallas hasn’t made a call yet on his long-term future, the 26-year-old is still showing up and doing his part.
Since entering the league, Parsons has been a force—12 sacks per season, four Pro Bowl selections, two First-Team All-Pro nods, along with nine forced fumbles and 256 tackles.
Whether Jerry Jones likes it or not, that résumé speaks for itself.
