The New York Giants drafted Abdul Carter with the third overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft from the Penn State Nittany Lions. The Giants defensive line is going to cause problems across the league in 2025.

Also, New York traded back into the first-round. They traded up from the 34th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft to the 25th overall pick with the Houston Texans. The Giants also selected quarterback Jaxson Dart from the Ole Miss Rebels. New York has completely changed its quarterback room entering the season. What is the reason as to why the Giants should be looking forward to the 2025 NFL season?
New York Giants Have Shocking Reason To Look Forward To the 2025 NFL Season

Tyler Sullivan of CBS Sports thinks that each team in the NFL has a reason to look forward to the 2025 NFL season. The Giants finished the 2024 season with a 3-14 record and not many New York fans felt there was hope for the future until the NFL Draft took place. Sullivan said,
As exciting as Abdul Carter and his injection along a defensive line that already consists of Brian Burns and Dexter Lawrence is, what gives New York Giants fans hope is Jaxson Dart. The front office had enough faith in the Ole Miss product to trade back up into the first round of the draft to select him, and he is now the long-term answer at the position. Of course, it’s a question as to when we’ll actually see Dart with Russell Wilson likely the Week 1 starter, but he provides hope for a brighter tomorrow and heads to New York with a ton of raw skill. “
New York will not be in a rush to play Dart in 2025, unless Wilson and Winston get injured or if Dart exactly lights it up in training camp. The plan for the Giants is to have him sit and learn for the 2025 NFL season. Head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen are looking to make major improvements during the 2025 season.
Dart will have a chance to be the long-term quarterback for the Giants, but he may not be the quarterback for the 2025 season. New York fans may have to wait until the 2026 season to see him play. During the 2024 college football season with Ole Miss, he completed 69.3% of his passes for 4,279 yards, 29 touchdowns, and six interceptions. He also rushed for 495 yards on 124 carries and three touchdowns, along with averaging 4.0 yards per carry. Dart will be exciting in the future, but Carter and the defensive line is why Giants fans need to be excited about the 2025 NFL season also.
