James Cook might get replaced soon according to renowned sports writer Mike Florio. On Monday, Florio discussed Cook requesting a better deal from the Buffalo Bills on ‘Pro Football Talk’.
The drama between James Cook and the Buffalo Bills has been going on for a while now. And Cook seems exhausted as he even put his home in Buffalo on the market last week. It is, of course, unclear as to whether there is a connection between these two situations.
Cook has been a major success with the Buffalo Bills, and it is surely within his rights to demand a much higher pay, especially after managing 207 carries for 1,009 yards and scoring 16 touchdowns in the 2024 NFL season for the Bills.
“There were questions about whether or not there’s enough weapons around Josh Allen and also this James Cook contract thing. They may want to load another running back in the pipeline here, because it is getting weird. They don’t want to pay him yet. I think they’re hoping to kick the can for another year. He put his house on the market last week. He’s been making it clear he wants to get paid. You better have a plan B for James Cook, whether you’re going to need [the new one] this year or you’re definitely going to need them next year if Cook isn’t there anymore,” Mike Florio said on ‘ProFootballTalk’ on Monday.

James Cook joined the Buffalo Bills in 2022 after being selected by the team as the 63rd pick in the second round of the NFL draft. Before stepping foot into the NFL, Cook played college football for the Georgia Bulldogs from 2018 to 2021.

James Cook May Get Competition From Draft Picks
The Buffalo Bills do not seem ready to give James Cook what he wants, or simply what he deserves, and are already looking at other alternatives to sweeten their roster. Apparently the Bills have invited KeAndre Lambert-Smith of the Auburn Tigers and Tyleik Williams of the Ohio State Buckeyes.

It looks like the Buffalo Bills are looking for someone fresher and younger to potentially fill up James Cook’s spot, if things don’t work out well between them. In his senior year with the Auburn Tigers, Lambert-Smith managed 50 receptions for 981 yards, scoring eight touchdowns. Meanwhile, Tyleik Williams managed 16 solo tackles with 2.5 sacks for the Ohio State Buckeyes.
