Jalen Ramsey’s recent trade to the Pittsburgh Steelers has gotten everyone talking in the football world ever since it was announced. The trade is mainly shocking since Ramsey’s stats have not been so impressive in the last couple of seasons and many are scratching their heads as to why the Steelers are investing so much in him. Former NFL offensive lineman Ross Tucker had much to say about Ramsey’s trade and came up with a theory about this.
According to Tucker, the main reason why the Pittsburgh Steelers have decided to invest in Ramsey is that someone’s job is on the line. Tucker reasoned that risky moves like bringing in Ramsey and Jonnu Smith may mean that Pittsburgh’s General Manager, Omar Khan’s job is in trouble.
“My biggest takeaway from this trade is the Steelers are operating like someone’s on the hot seat. I’m not saying anyone is on the hot seat, but the moves they’re making, paying Jaylen Ramsey almost $20 million this year, these are the type of moves that a GM makes when he thinks he’s on the hot seat. No reporting, this is just my observation.” Ross Tucker discussed Jalen Ramsey’s recent trade to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the latest episode of his podcast.

The Pittsburgh Steelers not only brought in Jalen Ramsey but also tight end Jonnu Smith from the Miami Dolphins. In the trade-off with the Dolphins, the Steelers gave away safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. Both teams have been criticized for the trade by numerous NFL analysts who feel that the Steelers and the Dolphins are making a big mistake.
Jalen Ramsey Was Surprised By Pittsburgh Steelers Trade
On another note, Jalen Ramsey himself admitted that he was plainly shocked when he heard the news that the Pittsburgh Steelers were trading him to the Dolphins. Ramsey also remarked that he originally hoped to finish his NFL career as a Dolphins player, but fate had other plans.

Ramsey played only one season with the Dolphins after playing for the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Los Angeles Rams before that. The tight end confessed that he definitely understands the business side of things as to why the team had decided to trade him to the Steelers.

Still, many NFL fans feel that Ramsey is definitely in a better place with the Steelers, especially with Aaron Rodgers as starting quarterback. Rodgers will mostly retire after the 2025 NFL season and hopes to take the team to the Super Bowl.
