Jalen Hurts recently raised some eyebrows when the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback reported that the team had apparently “taken the straightjacket” off of him, which enabled him to win the NFC Championship game against the Washington Commanders.
While many expected head coach Nick Sirianni to not react well to Hurts’ comments, the 43-year-old simply shrugged it off and remarked that the quarterback was simply having fun in the adrenaline rush after the win against the Commanders.
Sirianni also went on to admit that the Eagles have been doing things a little differently in the 2024 NFL season, and it has definitely worked for the team. However, former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver, Michael Irvin thought Sirianni needs to do something about the level of freedom he gives Jalen Hurts.
“The Chiefs are the fifth-most blitzing team in the National Football League. Last year, during the blitz, without Saquon, Jalen Hurts threw nine of his 15 interceptions against the blitz. He wasn’t great against the blitz prior to Saquon getting there. If you’re going to take the straitjacket off, I say not this game. Tie it tighter. Keep it real tight and win this game running the ball because you got a master blitzer over there right now and you don’t want to put him in harm’s way.” Michael Irvin said on FS1’s ‘Speak’.

Jalen Hurts and the rest of the Philadelphia Eagles are heading to the Super Bowl after defeating the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship game with a final score of 55-23. In that game, Hurts attempted 28 passes and completed 20 of them for 246 yards, scoring once, while Saquon Barkley contributed 15 carries for 118 yards, with three touchdowns. On defense, A.J. Brown managed six receptions for 96 yards, with a solo touchdown.
Jalen Hurts Backed By Shedeur Sanders To Win Super Bowl
Meanwhile, Philadelphia’s quarterback Jalen Hurts has a supporter in Shedeur Sanders who wants the team to win the Super Bowl on February 9th against the Kansas City Chiefs. According to Sanders, Saquon Barkley’s running game will do wonders for Patrick Mahomes, who can easily lead the team to victory.
In a recent episode of his podcast ‘2Legendary’, Sanders, who now plays college football for the Colorado Buffaloes, commented that he is backing quarterback Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles to win the game against the Chiefs. However, Shedeur Sanders’ brother, Darrius Sanders, who is a co-host of the program, went on to predict that the Kansas City Chiefs would win the Super Bowl against the Eagles.
