Philadelphia Eagles star quarterback and Super Bowl champion Jalen Hurts recently got ranked lower on a “best of” quarterbacks list than his fanbase would have expected, and the tier list has since gained mixed reactions. However, for one analyst, the ranking is only fair.

ESPN writer Jeremy Fowler recently released a report where he ranked the top 10 NFL quarterbacks, based on his interviews with NFL execs, coaches, and scouts. Jalen Hurts, despite being a Super Bowl champion for the 2024 season, was naked at the bottom at ninth.
In a segment of “Get Up,” analyst Dan Orlovsky offered his honest take on the issue.
“I do think there’s a reality where, one, the easiest place to play quarterback in the NFL last year was Philadelphia. There’s no debating that,” Orlovsky said. “Two, the passing game struggled at times to their own words.”
The two statements reinforce the difficult nature of evaluating quarterback play in context. Hurts thrived in the best of environments with questions remaining about what part he contributed to that success.
Jalen Hurts Gets Support From Nick Sirianni Following Controversial QB Hierarchy
Eagles star Jalen Hurts got support from his head coach, Nick Sirianni. He caught wind of the ranking that his star Hurts got snubbed in, and he offered his honest take on the matter.
For Sirrianni, the tier ranking that placed him far from the top of the list is “b******t.” In an interview he gave to NBC Sports, Sirriani defended why Hurts deserved to be ranked higher than he was.
“I mean, he plays the most important position in all sports, and it’s the most ultimate team game there is,” Sirriani said. “And what I admire about him is his selflessness of doing anything we need to do to win.”

He also added a challenge to critics and haters who feed on the low rating Hurts was given.
“You name me a team that wins and wins consistently that doesn’t have good players around you. Like, you name me a coach that doesn’t have good players around him that wins. Like, you don’t win with bad players, and it’s the same thing you don’t win with bad players as you’re a quarterback either.”
In the controversial piece from ESPN, writer Jeremy Fowler also praised Hurts for his status and ability, asserting that his name in the league has already been “cemented.”

Fowler wrote: “He’s a Super Bowl winner who plays big in big moments. He’s the most potent short-yardage quarterback rusher in NFL history. His streak of four consecutive seasons with 10 or more rushing touchdowns is the league’s longest ever for a passer.”
Jalen Hurts remains to be with the Eagles and will defend their championship title for the 2025 season.
