The Colorado Buffaloes had good and bad news regarding the transfer portal for the 2025 season. The Buffaloes were set to lose one of their key defenders from the 2024 squad.
As previously discussed by Alec Musa of GH, linebacker Nikhai Hill-Green is set to hit the transfer portal.
“Following one season with Colorado football, linebacker Nikhai Hill-Green will depart the program for the transfer portal,” Musa wrote. “Hill-Green finished tied with the team lead in TFLs with 12. Nevertheless, the Colorado faithful sit confused following Hill-Green’s decision to transfer following his success and that of the teams.”
Fortunately for head coach Deion Sanders, the Buffaloes gained an important player for 2025.
Jehiem Oatis is heading to Boulder
According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, the Buffaloes are set to gain the No. 1 defensive player in the transfer portal, former Alabama defensive tackle Jahiem Oatis.
“Former Alabama junior DT Jehiem Oatis has committed to Colorado, he tells ESPN,” Thamel posted on X. “He’s the No. 1 defensive player in ESPN’s Transfer Portal rankings and the No. 5 overall player. Oatis started 13 games during his first two years at Alabama and is a former Top 40 recruit.”

Colorado Buffaloes fans are excited
College football fans on social media reacted to Oatis’ decision on Monday night.
“Scary hours. Let prime cook,” wrote a fan.
“Colorado just stacking up the transfer wins. They’re gonna be a force next season if they plug in the right QB,” suggested one poster.
“Him learning from Sapp. Prime might be cookin,” posted another.
“Folks laughed at Coach Prime when he went heavy on the portal. They’re not laughing anymore,” wrote a fan.
