The Jacksonville Jaguars will be missing their starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence for a second straight game. Lawrence is dealing with what Head Coach Doug Pederson called a significant shoulder injury. The Jaguars star signal caller missed last week’s game against the Minnesota Vikings for the same injury, Lawrence would watch his team fall 12-7 to the Vikings in one of the sloppiest games played all year.
Speaking of sloppy, Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions face the Jaguars this coming week. Goff is coming off a five-interception game that the Lions somehow still managed to win. The Lions will look to get their offense back on track against a struggling Jaguars unit. Former New England Patriots QB Mac Jones is expected to get the start this week against the Lions.
Jaguars QB Situation for The Rest of the Year

While Trevor Lawrence just signed a massive new contract extension with the Jaguars. Many fans are calling for the team to sit the former Clemson quarterback the remainder of the year. With Lawrence already dealing with a significantly sprained AC Joint in his left shoulder, and the Jaguars’ season all but lost, it would make sense to let Lawrence get completely healthy and not risk any further injury for what looks like meaningless games the rest of the way.
Mac Jones started in place for Lawrence last week, Jones would throw for 111 yards and two interceptions while being sacked three times. Jones would however have a rushing touchdown on the day, but not much else would come to life against the stingy Vikings defense. Whether the Jaguars put Lawrence back in the starting line-up or not has yet to be determined. HC Doug Pederson could very well be coaching for his job at this point, so it wouldn’t be a shock to see Lawrence back out on the field.
If Lawrence Doesn’t Return This Season

Having the first overall pick would open a lot of doors for the Jaguars. They could either stay put and select the best player in their eyes, or the more likely outcome. Being since the Jaguars won’t be drafting a quarterback, they could easily prey upon a team desperate to trade up and collect good draft capital or even an elite player to build this team back up into the playoff contender it once was. If the season ended today the Jacksonville Jaguars would hold the first overall pick.
