Jacksonville Jaguars Could Sign Massive Free Agent Ahead Of 2024 Season

As the 2024 NFL offseason kicked off, the Jacksonville Jaguars set out to address several key needs, making bold moves in free agency to strengthen their roster.

One primary area of focus was the offensive and defensive front. The Jaguars bolstered both their offensive and defensive lines by signing Arik Armstead from the San Francisco 49ers and Mitch Morse from the Buffalo Bills.

They also dedicated three of their draft picks to linemen, reinforcing their commitment to building a formidable line on both sides of the ball.

In addition to addressing the lines, the Jaguars revamped their wide receiver group. Following Calvin Ridley’s departure to the Tennessee Titans, Jacksonville brought in Gabe Davis, Devin Duvernay, and 2024 first-round draft pick Brian Thomas Jr. to improve their passing attack.

With training camp just weeks away, the Jacksonville Jaguars appear to be in good shape offensively and defensively. However, the secondary remains a pressing concern.

The Jaguars struggled significantly against the pass last season, ranking 26th in yards allowed and 25th in passing touchdowns given up. While a stronger pass rush is expected to help, the secondary still requires considerable improvement.

To address these issues, Jacksonville signed safeties Darnell Savage Jr. and Terrell Edmunds, as well as veteran cornerback Tre Flowers during free agency. Despite those acquisitions, there is still a need for additional reinforcements in the secondary.

Jacksonville Jaguars Could Make Major Free Agency Move

Recent betting odds from BetOnline suggest that the Jaguars might not be done yet, as they are currently favored to sign five-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro Stephon Gilmore.

Gilmore, one of the top remaining free agents, showcased his abilities last season with the Dallas Cowboys, proving that he still has much to offer.

He started all 17 games, played 94 percent of the defensive snaps, recorded a career-high 68 tackles, and defended 13 passes – his highest total since his Defensive Player of the Year season in 2019.

While it may be unrealistic to rely on Gilmore as the top option at cornerback, he remains a dependable and skilled starter. Pairing him with Tyson Campbell could significantly boost the Jacksonville Jaguars’ defensive ability, helping to shore up their secondary and improve their overall pass defense.
