The Jacksonville Jaguars have a grand vision for dual-threat weapon Travis Hunter. Selected second overall in the 2025 NFL draft by the Jaguars, who moved up to that spot from the No. 5 position after a trade with the Cleveland Browns, Hunter has seemingly been impressing his team at minicamp.
He reportedly worked out as a wide receiver at first, but Jacksonville head coach Liam Coen wants to see some of Hunter’s capabilities on the other side of the ball next.
“He’ll be able to get integrated next week on the defensive side of the ball,” Coen said, per Fox Sports. “He’ll start to roll on defense.”
Hunter gives the Jacksonville Jaguars hope in more ways than one
“The organization expects a lot out of me,” Hunter shared. “They expect me to come out here and play right away. I’m going to do whatever it takes for me to play right away.”
Those words surely are exactly what Jacksonville wanted to hear from Hunter, who won the 2024 Heisman Trophy for his incredible play on offense and defense for the Buffaloes.
The Jaguars need playmakers on both sides of the ball, and Hunter has the chance to provide answers offensively and defensively for a Jacksonville team that was near the bottom of the league in 2024 in terms of scoring production and scoring defense.
That season, the Jaguars were just 26th with 18.8 points per game nd 27th with 25.6 points allowed per contest.
