The Jacksonville Jaguars have been the worst football team in the NFL over the last ten games dating back to last season. Their incredibly high-paid quarterback Trevor Lawrence has looked bad, to say the least, throughout that stretch, but especially to start this 2024 season.
Last year, Lawrence had the ‘explanation’ that he was coming off an intense injury, and that was the assumed reason for his poor play. But this season, the team and the quarterback have started the year in the worst possible way, not just with their 0-3 record, but the way they have lost these games as well.
Trevor Lawrence Caught On Camera With Troubling Moments
Lawrence has not looked like his usual self and is not nearly up to the contract that he just signed before the season. In their destruction against the Buffalo Bills, Alex Hoegler of Total Pro Sports shared the following:An NFL fan caught a visibly agitated and fed-up Trevor Lawrence roaming the sidelines during the Jacksonville Jaguars’ ugly loss to the Buffalo Bills on “Monday Night Football.”
Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars faced a must-win situation against a dangerous Josh Allen-led Bills team. But the visitors were no match for Buffalo, who cruised to a 47-10 victory to improve to 3-0 on the season.
X/Twitter user @Robsqueeze attended the game at Highmark Stadium and shared a 45-second video of a defeated Lawrence walking the sidelines. Though the user didn’t capture the interaction on video, they claim that Lawrence was in the ear of Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson:
Trevor is not happy with coaching. Unfortunately I didn’t get the first 45 second of him in Doug’s ear. pic.twitter.com/syckEcJqLk

This was just one of the troubling things that transpired for Lawrence during their beatdown, as Brenden Deeg of theScore posted a befuddling play that led to him calling Lawrence “broken.’

The Jaguars’ issues certainly do not start with their no. 1 overall pick Lawrence, but he has definitely added to them with his poor play. What you see in that video is not what we have grown to see from Trevor, and it is a bit shocking to see such a talent underperform to such a degree.
Lawrence is shown spinning in the video with no defense there, as if he is seeing ghosts on the field. That move ended up leading to a worse situation for Lawrence as it gave time for the Bill defender Casey Tohill time to recover and get to Trevor.
The Jaguars gave Trevor the keys to the Castle when they signed him to a five-year, $275 million extension ahead of his fourth season. He has not lived up to that contract at all to start the season:
Since signing the new contract, Lawrence has completed 47 of 89 passes (52.8 completion %) for 560 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception in three concerning losses. His 75.1 quarterback rating ranks 26th among players who have started at least one game this season.
Trevor took ownership of his poor play after the game saying:
“That’s the NFL. The quarterback has to play well every week to give yourself a shot to win, and I don’t feel like I’ve done that consistently enough,” Lawrence said after Monday’s loss, per ESPN’s Michael DiRocco. “So I put that on myself, and I’ve got to play better.”
The last time the team won a game with Trevor was week 12 of 2023, so it’s been a long time, and this has led to many fans and analysts already calling Lawrence a bust and broken.
When taking a larger angle on the situation, Lawrence can certainly play better, but these issues seem to come from the coaching staff and even higher up in the organization. Additionally, we expect young talented quarterbacks to come out of the gate strong, and that’s just never how it has been with just a handful of exceptions.
Trevor is not broken, and he will show why the team gave him that money, but it may come with a different head coach next season with Bill Belichick. Either way, everyone should pump the breaks on coming to conclusions about Trevor for his whole career based of this slumo. The Jaguars have never been known to be a great organization, and there is not a plethora of talent around Lawrence to succeed.
While this season may be a struggle, Trevor has a long career ahead of him with a lot of success, if he gets better, and his coaching staff does too.
