The Jacksonville Jaguars opened the year with high hopes of winning the division and being a playoff team in 2024. Just 6 weeks in and they are the farthest of any team from that. While many fans have already pointed to their quarterback Trevor Lawrence as the main problem, he is one of the only good things the team has going for them, and the proof is in the film.
Doug Peterson Is The Big Problem Says Adam Schefter
The team has started off to a league-worst 1-5 after the Sunday loss to Caleb Williams. What is more insane is that the team is 2-10 in their last 12 games dating back to last year and it is time for their head coach Pederson to be finding a job elsewhere. Trevor and the team were one of the best in the AFC before his injury last year and since then, they have been the very worst in the NFL.
NFL insider Adam Schefter says it is almost time to fire their head coach, and this upcoming week will be the last straw:
“I’ll give you two schools of thought there. The first is that Shahid Khan has been steadfast in his support of Doug Pederson, the Jaguars coach. He stood behind him, (saying) Doug Pederson’s a great man, and he said, ‘We’re not doing anything. We’re not making any changes. This is the best roster we’ve ever built,’ and we’ll take him at his word initially,” Schefter said on McAfee’s show. “I also will point out to you, at the same time, that over the last nine years, there have been three head coaches who have been fired after games in London. We saw the Dolphins fire Joe Philbin right after they lost in London, we saw the Raiders fire Dennis Allen after they lost in London, we saw the New York Jets last week fire Robert Saleh after they lost in London.”
The Jaguars will face another rookie quarterback this week, and if they lose a second in a row to another rookie in Drake Maye that will be the last straw for Pederson:
“The Jaguars lost to one rookie quarterback [Caleb Williams] yesterday. They play another rookie quarterback Sunday in London, Drake Maye,” Schefter said. “If they lose that game to New England and to Drake Maye, they then would be 1-6 with that long, transcontinental flight back to Jacksonville. Now, Shahid Khan has not given anybody any ideas that he’s thinking of anything. All I’m saying is there’s been a history of teams that have made moves after the losses in London.
“This is a team right now that is tremendously disappointing. This is a team that could be trading players before the trade deadline if they lose more games, because why wouldn’t you not want to accumulate draft capital? This is a team that outlaid a lot of cash in the off-season.”
Trevor Lawrence Is Not The Problem
While Pederson is the number one problem for the team, Trevor has been very solid at times and the film proves it. In this recent week in their embarrassing loss to the Bears, Trevor had four touchdowns dropped by his receivers!

Why does everyone blame Trevor Lawrence?

Trevor has been bad this season, but he has already proven that he is a starter in this league and that he will be for years to come. It appears that he will be getting a new head coach very soon and perhaps even Bill Belichick. If he can get a better coach, he will prove the haters wrong again, that he is a starter in this league and a good one.
