The Jacksonville Jaguars’ 2024 offseason acquisition, Gabe Davis, had a rough inaugural season. Davis posted career lows in every major category and played a career-low ten games because of a torn meniscus. He hauled in 20 receptions on 42 targets for 239 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 12 yards per reception, 23.9 yards per game, and a 47.6% catching percentage.

The Jacksonville Jaguars WR faced an uncertain future

Given his struggles and injury last season, there is a new general manager and coaching staff, the recent additions of Dyami Brown and Travis Hunter, and his contract, Gabe Davis faced an uncertain future in Jacksonville. Davis enters the second year of his 3-year, $39 million contract, and he is scheduled to earn a $1.5 million base salary along with a $6.494 million cap hit in 2025.
Their offensive starter let go after 1 season

According to Ian Rapoport, the Jacksonville Jaguars have released Gabe Davis after one season. Since the Jaguars would lose $13.8 million and incur a $20.3 million in dead cap with a pre-June 1st cut, they will process Davis as a post-June 1st cut, allowing the $20.3 million in dead cap to be spread into the 2026 offseason. As a result, the team will free up $794,118 in cap space and incur a $5.7 million dead cap hit in 2025 and $14.6 million in 2026.
