The Jacksonville Jaguars offense will look completely different after hiring James Gladstone as their next general manager and Liam Coen as their next head coach. Gladstone, with the input of Coen, will be responsible for assembling Jacksonville’s roster for next season. As the Jaguars look to add players who fit their scheme, they will also make the difficult choice of letting players go.
The front office had a very busy day on Thursday, making five roster moves, including parting ways with a Pro Bowler.
Jacksonville Jaguars suddenly cut offensive weapon after 3 seasons

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the Jaguars released Evan Engram, along with Josh Reynolds, Devin Duvernay, and Ronald Darby, and traded Christian Kirk to the Houston Texans. Cutting Engram frees up $5.985 million ($13.5 million dead cap), and parting ways with all five frees up $25.797 million. With these five roster moves, plus the retirement of Mitch Morse, they should have $64.5 million cap space to work with.

The Pro Bowl TE battled two separate injuries in 2024

Evan Engram battled two separate injuries in 2024, causing him to miss eight games. Engram hauled in 47 receptions on 64 targets for 365 yards and one touchdown, averaging 5.2 receptions per game, 7.8 yards per reception, 5.7 yards per target, and 40.6 yards per game in nine starts. He missed four games (Weeks 2-5) with a hamstring injury and the final five games with a torn labrum.
A look at the Jaguars’ current tight end room

Brenton Strange is currently the only tight end under contract. After a relatively quiet rookie season, the former second-round pick did a nice job filling in for the injured tight end. Strange hauled in 40 receptions on 53 targets for 411 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 2.4 receptions per game, 10.3 yards per reception, 7.8 yards per target, and 24.2 yards per game in 17 games and ten starts.
Luke Farrell and Josiah Deguara are both free agents. Don’t be surprised if the Jaguars address the position in free agency or through the draft.
