The Jacksonville Jaguars have not had the season that many people expected out of them as they are now 2-6 and potentially looking to trade away pieces for the future. However, Week 8 was not so kind to them as in their 30-27 home loss to the Green Bay Packers, wide receiver Christian Kirk suffered a fractured collarbone and will miss the remainder of the 2024 season.
Christian Kirk has been having a good season as he recorded 27 catches on 47 targets for 379 yards (14.0 yards per reception) with one receiving touchdown. After the trades that already happened, Christian Kirk was expected to be one of the top wide receiver trade targets left on the board for contending teams ahead of the November 5th trade deadline.
Kirk is in the third year of his four-year, $72 million contract so he will still be under contract in 2025. This is a massive blow for the Jacksonville Jaguars as well with the ability to get a valuable asset for the future now completely off the table this season. This has not been a great week for wide receivers as Houston Texans wide receiver Stefon Diggs suffered a non-contact knee injury and missed the remainder of their Week 8 game.
Who else is likely to be traded on the Jacksonville Jaguars?
Just because Christian Kirk is not going to be traded means that the Jacksonville Jaguars are going to stay intact. They have some offensive linemen that could become available. Two that make sense as offensive lineman Brandon Scherff and left tackle Cam Robinson could be traded away this week.
While it is not likely that both would be moved since they still need to protect Trevor Lawrence, Scherff is a player on the final year of his contract and has had multiple teams interested in him. This Jags team lost too many games early to be contending for a playoff spot so expect this to be viewed as a lost season.
