The Jacksonville Jaguars have had a rough season, starting off with a 1-5 record, and it doesn’t look like head coach Doug Pederson will be keeping his job much longer.
Jacksonville will be making a head coaching change this winter, and it could be a top job for many coaching candidates since quarterback Trevor Lawrence is having a tough season but has great talent that a new coach will need to find.
The Jaguars need to hire a top head coach this offseason, and there is a great chance they will go after former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick.
Belichick didn’t get a job during last year’s coaching cycle but seems open to still wanting to be a head coach, and according to Greg Bedard from the BostonSportsJournal.com, Jacksonville could be in on the 72-year-old head coach.
Jacksonville Jaguars Could Be In On Bill Belichick
During the sports talk show Felger and Mazz on 98.5, The Sports Hub In Boston, Bedard was on for his weekly appearance, and during the segment 10 Questions with Greg Bedard, Felger asked where you think Bill Belichick will land next season. Bedard stated,” I think the Jacksonville Jaguars are leaders in the clubhouse.”
Hiring Belichick would be an interesting move at this point, and it does make perfect sense. Belichick is one of the greatest coaches of all time, and the Jaguars haven’t won a single thing in franchise history; who better to sell their fanbase? Things will change if a head coach who won six Super Bowls is hired.
Belichick will be a top target for many teams this season, but Jacksonville could give him the most money. It also gives him a nice young quarterback in Lawrence and an opportunity to live in Florida.
