J.J. McCarthy, quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings, may not be the best option for the Minnesota Vikings according to NFL analyst Ross Tucker. In a recent appearance on the SKOR North – Minnesota Sports Show on Monday, Tucker seemed to say that the Vikings were essentially making a big mistake in making McCarthy their primary quarterback.

McCarthy joined the Minnesota Vikings last year but did not play after injuring his meniscus during the preseason. The 22-year-old quarterback was selected by the Vikings as the tenth pick in the very first round of the NFL draft. Before playing in the league, McCarthy played college football for the Michigan Wolverines.

“J.J. McCarthy, this will essentially be his rookie season. Now, I will say this, I think it was against the Raiders he played in the preseason last year. He looked awesome. I was like, ‘He looks amazing.’ But it’s not just his rookie year. You know, he missed so much practice time. It would be unusual if he didn’t have some serious growing pains. And I’ll say this too, guys, no matter what the Vikings say about McCarthy and how much they love him, and you know, he’s the guy, they wanted (Sam) Darnold back. And then, when they weren’t going to get Darnold back, they wanted Daniel Jones back, right? Like, and they were offering these guys pretty darn good money.” Ross Tucker said about J.J. McCarthy in Monday’s episode of the SKOR North –Minnesota Sports Show.

J.J. McCarthy will be essentially playing his first season with the Minnesota Vikings this year. While he is definitely a talented player, McCarthy still has to prove his place in the NFL. In his senior year for the Michigan Wolverines, the quarterback threw for a total of 2,991 yards, scoring 22 touchdowns for the team, with four interceptions.

J.J. McCarthy Bonds With Justin Jefferson At Team OTAs

Despite what haters may have to say about him, J.J. McCarthy seems to be trying his best in training with the Minnesota Vikings. At the recent team OTAs, McCarthy was seen training with none other than wide receiver, Justin Jefferson. Jefferson spoke to reporters after the training, emphasizing on his optimism for the team in the forthcoming season.

According to the NFL schedule, the Minnesota Vikings will be locking horns with the Chicago Bears in the first week of the tournament. Before that, the team will be getting their heart rates up with three preseason games against the Houston Texans, the New England Patriots, and the Tennessee Titans.
