The Texas Longhorns are ready to enshrine a new era of college football. Later this month, Texas will finally get into game action against the Ohio State Buckeyes.

It will be the first game for Texas since losing to Ohio State in the college football playoffs semifinals. The Longhorns starting quarterback in 2025 will be Arch Manning. This will be his first full starting season for Texas. There has been a lot of hype around Manning. With this hype, there could be some unfair expectations for him to get the job done for this football program.
One College Football Analyst Thinks That Expectations For Texas Longhorns Quarterback Arch Manning Seem ‘Unfair’

Matt Barrie of ESPN was on a podcast talking about some hot college football topics entering the 2025 season. Barrie had some interesting words about the expectations for Manning with the Longhorns entering the 2025 college football season and said,
“I’m not going to go all Finebaum on you with the Tim Tebow and this, that and the other, but they have that ability and Arch has that name to take over college football for the next couple of years if he wants. But it’s an enormous amount of pressure. That’s why I say it’s kind of unfair. I just want to see the guy play good football first, right before I start handing him the Heisman and making him the No. 1 overall pick.”
Manning started in a couple of games last season for Texas when Quinn Ewers out due to injury. Manning completed 67.8% of his passes for 939 yards, nine touchdowns, and two interceptions. He also had a couple of rushing touchdowns for the Longhorns during the 2024 college football season as well.
Head coach Steve Sarkisian understands what kind of hype and expectations this football program will have in 2025. Manning could be in potential conversations for the Heisman Trophy and the number one overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. However, some people think that the Manning hype needs to slow down and there needs to be more evidence of his game before analysts claim he can be a Heisman guy or a number one pick.
