Touchdown passes being thrown and Packers fans embracing the quarterback. It’s Green Bay Packers Quarterback Jordan Love’s time to shine in Titletown.
Love makes his debut September 10 against the Chicago Bears. Love waited three years behind Aaron Rodgers and finally gets to suit up for the green and gold.
Love was drafted in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. The Green Bay Packers front office was criticized for picking Love. Aaron Rodgers won back-to-back NFL MVP awards during Love’s first two seasons. Green Bay extended Rodgers before the 2022 NFL season.
Many thought Jordan Love would never start for the Packers. Love’s opportunity came after Rodgers was traded to the New York Jets.
Jordan Love’s NFL History
Most of Love’s playing time came during preseasons. Love played well during the preseason and got better each game. However, Love struggled in his first start. Love suited up against the Kansas City Chiefs in 2021 because Rodgers had Covid-19. Love struggled to read defenses and looked like a rookie.
In 2022 Love stepped in for Rodgers against the Philadelphia Eagles. Love passed for 113 yards and threw a touchdown. Love has completed 60 percent of his passes, passed for 606 yards and has thrown three touchdowns. Love has also thrown three interceptions.
Expectations
There are high expectations for Love. Love doesn’t have to be Aaron Rodgers, but he must prove he can start in the NFL. The Packers have been blessed with good quarterback play. David Whitehurst, Randy Wright, Bart Starr, Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre all played winning football. Love must stay consistent and help the Packers win games. Love is young and has time to cement his legacy in Titletown.
Help is Here
Love has help in Green Bay. Green Bay has a great running back duo in Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon. Wide Receivers Romeo Doubs, Samori Touré and Christian Watson made plays in 2022. General Manager Brian Gutekunst drafted two dynamic tight ends in Tucker Kraft and Luke Musgrave. Additional wide receivers were drafted as well.
Love should be able to connect with the Packers offensive personnel.
