The Florida Gators basketball program won its third national title during the 2024-2025 college basketball season. With Florida having three national titles this century, the Gators football program also has multiple titles this century.
The last time that the Gators football program won it all was during the 2008 season. One of Florida’s iconic basketball players, Joakim Noah, talked about whether or not Florida is a basketball school or a football school. Noah was a part of the Gators teams who won back-to-back national titles during the 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 season under head coach Billy Donovan.

Noah was asked,
“Is Florida a football school or a basketball school? It’s very important, you have to pick one.”
Noah said,
“It’s a football school, but it’s okay. You know, football brings in the money but at the end of the day a chip is a chip. Like you came back and you go to grog house and you go to the bar, you’re not talking about, is this a football school or a basketball school. Like this is, the checks are coming. That’s all that matters right. Like what else matters.”
Florida’s football program went 7-5 during the 2024 college football season. Many are hoping that the Gators football program will sniff the college football playoffs under head coach Billy Napier during the 2025 season. Napier will be in the spot light during the fall. If not, Gators fans and Noah will be begging for Todd Golden and basketball season to be starting up once again.
