Darren Watkins Jr., popularly known as IShowSpeed, left college football enthusiasts in a state of confusion with his recent appearance. The 20-year-old YouTuber, with millions of YouTube subscribers, was recently seen wearing a Boise State jersey, sending confused responses from fans who had seen him wear LSU purple and gold in the previous week.
The disturbance was caused by Speed’s tour across America as a part of his ambitious “Speed Does America” live streaming venture, which he started in late August, a 35-day day-and-night broadcast across 25 states.
His latest trip to Boise State’s infamous blue turf, featuring a customized Broncos jersey created for him, was just behind his vintage LSU campus takeover during the Tigers-Florida game.
During his visit, he took a tour of LSU’s facilities, was given a signed jersey by former running back Leonard Fournette, and even joked about transferring to the university as he streamed live on campus. The native of Ohio seemed to be in awe of LSU’s locker room facilities, comparing them to “a first-class train” in his stream.
And now, barely two weeks ago, he surfaced on Boise State’s famous blue field, and in his trail followed criticism and good-natured derision from college football fans on all of the social media.
His appearance at the shared clip by the Boise State Football official X handle captured him running drills and showing off his athletic skills on the same field that the Mountain West Conference games are contested by the Broncos.

Bronco Nation Weighs in on Speed’s Athletic Display
Social media went into a meltdown with reaction from fans as IShowSpeed showcased his speed on Boise State’s practice field. The responses were not just funny but also in awe of his athletic skill.
Wasn’t he just in an LSU uniform a few weeks ago?

“Get him a helmet and put him at DB, he can’t be worse than McCoy or Banks,” tweeted @ElsantiagoRubio, suggesting Speed might actually help Boise State’s defensive secondary struggles.
@21duhon21 noted the irony of Speed’s performance against Boise State defenders: “Even speed cooked our guy for an explosive pass play deep.”
@nonamephysio put Speed’s success in perspective: “Looks fast, but to be fair, it’s pretty standard to see guys being beat deep on the blue.”
The most telling reaction came from a conflicted LSU supporter @Fresno559 “Love you speed but you just went to my archenemies school and put on their jersey.”
@JayTust offered perhaps the most logical explanation for Speed’s presence in Idaho: “Why is everyone so surprised speed is in Boise? He flew back with the team Saturday night?”
The final comment from @smurfturf27 was simple but pointed: “Can he play DB?”
These responses suggest the ways in which Speed has progressed beyond being a performer touring once to college campuses. His capacity to create real excitement at every stop made him an unwitting ambassador for college sports, engaging in authentic connections with fan bases.
