    WR Isaiah Neyor

One of the biggest pulls out of the portal this offseason for Texas was WR Isaiah Neyor. Neyor is a big bodied WR who was literally a one man passing attack at Wyoming. He projects to be the number two outside receiver this season, so he has a chance to prove his talent. Texas fans saw what he was capable of in the spring game. He caught a long 60+ yard TD from Quinn Ewers. Neyor is going to live above the rim and down the field for the Longhorns. If the Texas QBs are willing to take some shots, Neyor will go get them.

    High School and Recruiting

Isaiah Neyor was not highly touted out of high school. In fact, he wasn’t really touted at all. He was the number 385 WR in his class, and the 3168th player overall. He had a two-star rating and committed to play at Wyoming. Neyor played his high school ball at Lamar High School in Arlington, TX. As a senior he put up 39 catches for 858 yards, and 8 TDs. Then he got to Wyoming, and things started looking up.

    On Field Skills

Neyor comes in at 6’3” 216 pounds. A massive size for a WR. However, he isn’t just a plodding jump ball target. He has loads of wiggle and speed, both allowing him to be a weapon after the catch. As I said before, he was the only real weapon at Wyoming. He still put up 44 catches for 878 yards, and 12 TDs as a redshirt freshman. Proving quickly that his two star high school status was meaningless. Neyor is a decent route runner, has elite ball skills, and has speed and the ability to make you miss after the catch. It is going to be very fun to see where he fits into this offense, cause this guy can live behind safeties.

    Outlook for Texas in 2022

My expectations for Neyor this season are fairly high. He had a huge season last year, but now moving up in competition it is yet to be seen if he can compete in the power 5. I don’t see any reason he can’t though, because he is just so freaky talented. He played with some of the worst QBs I’ve ever seen on the college level at Wyoming, so Quinn Ewers should be a breath of fresh air. Neyor will be the second most productive WR for Texas this season from a box score standpoint. I expect lots of tough contested catches, and even more walk in deep ball TDs. Neyor is going to be a matchup nightmare, and Coach Sark will take full advantage.

    Career Outlook

Even before Neyor transferred to Texas I believed he had an NFL future. His blend of size and speed project beautifully to the league. If Isaiah Neyor can be just as, if not more productive at Texas as he was at Wyoming, he will have some fans in NFL front offices. It’s not often a guy this big and talented goes as underlooked as Neyor did out of high school. NFL front offices should not make the same mistake with him out of college. Expect the name Isaiah Neyor to become a household name this year, all the way to a high day two draft selection in 2023.
