UNRANKED IN
Coaches Poll |

It has been years since the American Athletic Conference had a team finish in the top 5 in preseason polls.
Interestingly, though, the AAC has had a team in top 10 of the final Coaches poll 2 of the last 4 years. Furthermore, last year, and the year before, the American Athletic Conference was greatly undervalued. When was it overvalued, their best team.? Answer, …. NOT in the last 4 years. Here are those last 4 years:
2021 Cincinatti, preseason Ranking 8. Final Ranking 4.
2020 Cincinnati, preseason Ranking 20. Final Ranking 8.
2019 Memphis, preseason Unranked. Final Ranking 17.
2018 UCF, preseason Ranking 21 . Final Ranking 11.
This year looks like more of the same disrespect.
This year, 2022, Cincinatti is Preseason 22 in the rankings. Keep in mind, Cincinnati finished in the Bowl Championship series. They finished ranked fourth. “But they lost their quarterback?” you might say. So did Michigan, and USC, and Oklahoma. Each of those teams is ranked ahead of Cincinatti.
Desmond Ridder is now in the Atlanta Falcons quarterback room, but they do have Ben Bryant, QB, returning and taking the starting spot. We’ll see if the losing streak of 4 straight years of the Coaches Poll insulting the best AAC team continues.
By the way, if you’re interested in the AAC I took a look at the schedule nonconference, and then also conference schedule.
