    OT Kelvin Banks

When Texas received the commitment from Kelvin Banks the entire Texas fanbase went nuts. He was a must get recruit for OC/OL Coach Kyle Flood, and although it didn’t go according to plan, it ended the way we wanted. All reports out of camp are saying Banks looks phenomenal and will probably be the starting LT come week one. So with that said let’s get into his background.

    High School and Recruiting:

Kelvin Banks played at Summer Creek High School in Humble, TX. He finished the cycle ranked as the 33rd overall player and the number three tackle. At one point he was ranked as high as 14th in the nation and the number one tackle. He also ranked as the number eight player in the state of Texas, as he was the number two offensive lineman. Banks played in the Under Armor All-American game as a senior, and is already being projected as a future first round pick. He flipped to Texas after committing to Oregon over offers from Alabama, LSU, OU, Auburn, Texas A&M, and many others.

    On Field Skills:

While we haven’t seen Kelvin on a college field yet, we have seen just how big of a human he is. The pictures that have surfaced of this kid are ridiculous. He has tree trunks for arms and a thick lower half. He is 18 years old and would fit in an NFL locker room. In high school he was known for having great feet and being able to mirror rushers. With that, his size helps when he is a bit slow off the ball. It will be interesting to see how he translates to the college game, but if the Vernon Broughton clip is any indication, he’ll be great.

    Outlook for Texas in 2022:

I, and many others, project Kelvin Banks to be the day one starter at LT. His size, mean streak, and athleticism are things almost nobody else on the team has. It has not been very often Texas has gotten a first round projected OL out of high school. If that projection ends up being correct, Kelvin will lock down the left side for the next three seasons. I’m saying it right now without ever seeing him play in college, Kelvin Banks WILL be a first round pick LT, and inside the top 10 no less.

    Career Outlook:

As previously stated I believe Banks will be a first rounder. Between his physical gifts and Kyle Flood’s coaching, I’d bet the house on it. They don’t build many men like this one, and when they do they play 10 years in the NFL. Banks has the perfect size profile, arm length and all, that pro scouts love to see. If he comes out and mauls some kids the next three years NFL front offices will love him. Expect the name Kelvin Banks to be one you hear for a long time moving forward, starting September 3rd.
