Indianapolis Colts cornerback Sauce Gardner suffered an apparent calf injury during the first quarter against the Houston Texans on a non-contact play. With the assistance of the medical staff, the two-time All-Pro went directly to the medical tent, later went to the locker room, and did not return for the remainder of the game. Gardner was spotted wearing a walking boot on the sidelines and underwent an MRI on Monday to determine the severity of the injury.
Indianapolis Colts’ 2x-All-Pro gets promising news

According to Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, tests confirmed a calf strain for Sauce Gardner. As a result, the elite cornerback is expected to miss some time and is considered week-to-week, meaning he could miss anywhere from one to multiple weeks. Lastly, the Colts hope Gardner will return at some point during the regular season.

Who replaces him?

The Colts may rotate Mekhi Blackmon and Jaylon Jones on the outside opposite Charvarius Ward with Sauce Gardner sidelined. Blackmon has started seven games this season, replacing Ward when he missed time, while Jones has played the previous four games after sitting out seven games with a hamstring injury. Mekhi played 46 snaps in Week 13, and Jaylon played 31.
