The Indianapolis Colts depth at cornerback is concerning. Outside of their elite slot cornerback, Kenny Moore II, their starters are young and inexperienced. Jaylon Jones, their seventh-round pick from last season, has 11 career starts in 18 games, and JuJu Brents, their second-round pick from last season, has nine career starts in ten games.
Their backup cornerbacks aren’t overly experienced as well. Dallis Flowers, an undrafted free agent from 2022, has five career starts in 17 games, and Samuel Womack III, their recent waiver wire pickup, has one career start in 24 games.
To make matters worse, their starter suffered a significant injury.
Indianapolis Colts starting cornerback could miss the rest of the 2024 season
JuJu Brents suffered a significant undisclosed knee injury during their 27-29 loss to the Houston Texans. Brents will undergo surgery and could potentially miss the remainder of the season. However, there is hope he can return in December.
The Colts, concerned with their depth at cornerback, added a player to the active roster.
The Indianapolis Colts promoted a 28-year-old corner to the 53-man roster
The Colts announced, via X, that they promoted Chris Lammons from the practice squad to the 53-man roster. Lammons, who has one career start in 47 games, did not make their 53-man roster, but he re-signed to their practice squad. They elevated him for game day against the Texans, and he played 22 (88%) special teams snaps but didn’t register a statistic. There is a possibility he will replace Brents in the starting rotation.
We have signed CB Chris Lammons from the practice squad and placed CB JuJu Brents on IR.

Really feels like we should have taken the opportunity to sight one of the best corners and one of the best safeties in the league over the off-season…
