Even though he’s approaching 40 years of age, Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James is still a marvel to behold at whenever he steps on the court. Even if that’s the case, Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson is still confident he can win against the NBA superstar when it comes a dunk contest.
Before entering the league, Richardson played college football at the University of Florida. He then made an impressive debut in the NFL in 2023, throwing his first touchdown pass and rushing for a touchdown in his first game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He continued to showcase his dual-threat abilities, scoring two rushing touchdowns in the following game against the Houston Texans before leaving with a concussion.
After missing a game due to the concussion, Richardson returned and led a comeback effort against the Los Angeles Rams, recording two passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown. This marked the first time in NFL history that a rookie quarterback had scored a rushing touchdown in each of his first three starts. However, Richardson’s promising start was interrupted by a grade three AC joint sprain suffered in Week 5 against the Tennessee Titans. The injury required surgery and sidelined him for the remainder of the 2023 season. Despite the setback, his early performance has generated excitement and high expectations for his future in the NFL.

James has amassed an impressive array of career achievements. He holds multiple NBA records, including the most points scored in the playoffs (8,023), the most field goals made (2,872), and the most minutes played (11,654). James has also won four NBA championships, four Finals MVP awards, and four MVP awards, cementing his status as one of the all-time greats of the sport.
Even though he’s turning 40 right now, James is still no slouch on the court, as evidenced by Team USA’s recent gold medal victory in the Olympics. It remains to be seen, though, whether Richardson can make good on his promise or not.
