“If Ty Simpson’s Name Was Ty Manning”: College Football Analyst Believes Alabama Crimson Tide QB Ty Simpson Should Win Heisman Trophy

The Alabama Crimson Tide have a 4-1 record and have bounced back nicely since the week one loss against the Florida State Seminoles. Quarterback Ty Simpson has had a great year for the Crimson Tide, and he has been one of the reasons why Alabama is back in the college football playoffs picture.

The Crimson Tide this weekend will be on the road against the #14 Missouri Tigers. Missouri is 5-0 this season. This is a game that Alabama needs to win to keep its playoff hopes alive. Simpson is going to need to outduel Beau Pribula in this one. Is the Crimson Tide quarterback in potentially in the conversation for the Heisman Trophy?

Joel Klatt of FOX Sports was on the Next Round Live podcast talking about the Crimson Tide quarterback. He believes that he should be the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy this year. Klatt said about Simpson,

“If Ty Simpson’s name was Ty Manning, we would cancel the end of the season Heisman Trophy ceremony and just do it now. That’s the best pure passing game in college football.”

This season, he has completed 70.3% of his passes for 1,478 yards, 13 touchdowns, and one interception. If Simpson continues to keep this up, there is no doubt that he is going to win the Heisman Trophy. Alabama does not have to make the playoffs for him to win the trophy however. These big games down the stretch will tell if Simpson is going to win the award or not. If so, it would be another Crimson Tide playing winning the award.
