Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has led the team to five Super Bowl appearances in the last six seasons. He has won three Super Bowls in that span and a couple of MVPs and Super Bowl MVPs as well.

There are people out there who have Chiefs fatigue, and they want to see another AFC team go to the Super Bowl. Mahomes did not look like the same quarterback in 2024 despite having a 15-2 record. Kansas City’s defense was the story in 2024, until they were gashed in the Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles. Mahomes is one of the top five quarterbacks in the NFL, but could that be in question entering the 2025 NFL season?
NFL Analyst Questions If Kansas City Chiefs Quarterback Patrick Mahomes Will Still Be in the Elite Level For 2025

Dan Graziano of ESPN.com had one quarterback question for each NFL team entering the 2025 NFL season. Of course, the focus of Kansas City is Mahomes. The question for the Chiefs is: “What needs to happen for Patrick Mahomes‘ stats to return to elite level?”
“Well, it would certainly help if the Chiefs could protect him better. Can the combination of free agent signee Jaylon Moore and first-round rookie Josh Simmons help shore up the tackle position? Will second-year lineman Kingsley Suamataia be better at guard than he was last season at left tackle?
Getting Rashee Rice back from his knee injury will help the WR corps, as should a full season from Hollywood Brown. The Chiefs may never again be as explosive as they were in the early Mahomes days with Tyreek Hill, Kareem Hunt and prime Travis Kelce. But the offense has shown it can be efficient and effective when the O-line is right.”
The offensive line has been one of the reasons why the Chiefs lost to the Eagles in the Super Bowl. Drafting Josh Simmons from the Ohio State Buckeyes in the first round could help the Chiefs left tackle problems. If Kansas City’s offensive line is an issue in 2025, there is a chance they won’t win as many games and Mahomes won’t be as productive.
During the 2024 NFL season, he completed 67.5% of his passes for 3,928 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. He also rushed for 307 yards on 58 carries and two touchdowns, along with averaging 5.3 yards per carry.
Mahomes was seventh in the NFL in passing yards last season and he was ninth in the NFL in passing touchdowns. Travis Kelce is a year older, and he is no doubt slowing down. A lack of a go-two wide receiver could hurt Mahomes in 2025. It is silly to think that he will lose his elite status in 2025.
Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills, Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals, Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens, and Jalen Hurts of the Eagles also belong in the elite category along with Mahomes. Jayden Daniels of the Washington Commanders and C.J. Stroud of the Houston Texans are knocking on the door to be elite as well. Mahomes will have a good year in 2025, but he may not be in the MVP conversation because of Mahomes fatigue.
